This is the second book by Susan Harris and I can thoroughly recommend it. The story follows on well from the first book and develops well into its own throughout the book. As usual Susan captures the personalities of the characters and each one has their own little quirks. The characters develop well throughout the book, to where you love and hate them at the same time. Some truths come out in this book, you learn about Luca's past, about Cassie's destiny and what is the link between Archer and Luca! The only criticism I would have about the book is the ending. I can understand why Susan has ended like she has, because clearly there is a sequel, but for me it ended to sharply. I think perhaps the ending would have been better had it been slightly earlier, when a decision was made and told to Cassie. But it then continued on then it ended, and it seemed just a bit too sudden. However, it didn't detract from the book, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. The ending for me is what stopped it being a 5 because i just sat there trying to work out if I had lost some pages form the kindle. But read the book, it is absolutely superb.
This book I can thoroughly recommend. It is superbly written and edited. The story itself is intricately wound and threads in different directions, yet is never so tangent that you cannot keep up. The idea behind the story is intriguing and it has to be said, you never really know who is the good guy or the bad guy, and to be able to keep that until the end shows how good the writing is. It keeps you guessing and even when clues are given, you never actually guess the ending.
Cannot wait till the sequel and will certainly be reading it.
I hate spiders, terrified of them, but I glossed over the word so it didn't bother me too much. I wish the author had of chosen a bug any bug but a spider. But it was fine.
I loved this book, I feel in love with the characters, I swung between Connor and Brett. It flowed wonderfully and is such a unique storyline it is a refreshing change form the usual, vampire, werewolf kind of books.
There was a lovely balance between dialogue and narrative and this for me is very important. I cannot wait for the next installment. It was such a good book I did't want to put it down, needless to say, work became a complete bugbear during the few days I was reading it.
Read this book, you will not regret it.
